Does resting pulse increase with age? Understanding heart rate changes

While maximum heart rate decreases with age, a person's average resting heart rate does not change significantly with normal aging and typically remains within the 60 to 100 beats per minute (bpm) range for most adults. In fact, an exceptionally fit individual may even have a lower resting heart rate than a younger, sedentary person.
