What is the urinary syndrome of menopause?
Affecting at least 50% of postmenopausal women, the urinary syndrome of menopause is a component of a larger condition called genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM). It refers to the bothersome urinary symptoms, such as frequency, urgency, and recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs), that arise due to declining estrogen levels. GSM is often underdiagnosed because many women mistakenly believe these issues are a normal and unchangeable part of aging.
