Can you have menopause 20 years after a hysterectomy?

According to one study, women who have a hysterectomy but retain their ovaries may enter menopause almost two years earlier than women who do not undergo the procedure. This is one reason why it is possible to still have menopause 20 years after a hysterectomy, as the timing depends entirely on whether your ovaries were removed at the time of surgery. If your ovaries were left intact, natural menopause will occur on its own timeline, potentially years or even decades after the hysterectomy itself.
