Is propulsive gait related to aging?
While a slower walk might be a common sign of aging, research shows that a distinct decline in propulsive power begins around age 70. The characteristic forward-leaning posture and shuffling steps of a propulsive gait, however, are not a normal consequence of growing older but are strongly linked to underlying neurological conditions, most notably Parkinson's disease.
