Are elderly people exempt from fasting? A look at religious and health-related exemptions

According to research published by MDPI, over 10,500 elderly participants were studied to find that prolonged fasting periods were associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular mortality, highlighting significant health risks for seniors who fast. Because of these and other health considerations, it is a widely recognized practice that elderly people are exempt from fasting in many religious traditions and modern health contexts.
